Getting Your Harken 32 Off the Boat

On my 1997 T-3800, Recess, the Harken 32 is mounted on the cabin top next to the companionway.  It is the winch that controls the main sheet.

This video shows how I removed the 32 from the cabin top and some of its important characteristics and internal parts.

This video is the first of two related to the Harken Classic 32.  The second video, also here on the site, details how to disassemble the winch on the home workbench for cleaning and lubrication.

WARNING:  The video was filmed on a windy April day in 2020 and sadly there is considerable wind roar during some parts of the video.  While I was making it I had no idea how loud the wind would be.  The sound seems less if you listen to the video through speakers rather than headphones.  Even with the distraction of the wind I think any 3800 owner needing to get the 32 off for maintenance will be glad they watched to video to see what they face on the boat.

NOTE:  When you click the "Play" arrow (>) the video takes a few seconds to begin playing.
